We must just say a few words about our previous President, Dame June Whitfield, who died on the 28th December 2018.
What many may not know is that she had a close link with this area. She was a very good friend of Frankie Howerd and Dennis Heymer who lived in the village of Cross and came down to visit them on many occasions, and would visit Dennis while he was still living in the house and she was delighted to be asked to be a Patron, and then President of the Trust.
Therefore, as a mark of respect to and love for June, the Trust has decided to name the Community Hub activities’ room “The Dame June Whitfield Room”.
“I get recognised quite a bit, but people are so nice. They say things like ‘thank you for all the fun’, which is wonderful to hear”.
