With a final push, thanks to the Weston Light Orchestra putting on a concert on 14th October and to a very generous donation from SysCon Ltd of Blackford, we have raised the money required to buy and install a defibrillator at our community café and hub. We shall be installing it in the New Year. Many thanks also to all those who put money in the collection box in the café. Pictured: Trust chairman, Phil Davies, and SysCon director Heidi Nicholson.
Please note that our latest opening times are as follows: Mondays and Tuesdays: CLOSED ***** Wednesdays to Fridays: OPEN from 9.30 to 2.30 ***** Saturdays and Sundays: OPEN from 9.30 to 4.30 ***** Our wonderful chef, Kieran, is on holiday from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th November so the café will be closed.
We have started a brand new service for senior citizens in the BS26 postcode area which is proving to be very popular. Every Thursday morning our community bus will come to homes to pick up senior citizens to visit the café and hub in Loxton for a drink, snack and a chat, and then take you home. This service will be free, although passengers will have to pay for their food and drink at the café. The aim is to help people get together and make friends. To take part, phone or text 07881 630 629 or email [email protected] Please pass this on to those who would benefit from this service but who may not have access to the Internet. Thanks!
And here we are in London: the Trustees along with representatives of National Grid, and the National Lottery Community Fund (who gave us the grants) and M4 Van Centre, Swindon, who provided the minibus, and the “absolutely fabulous” Dame Joanna Lumley, our President and Patron Suzy Aitchison, the late Dame June Whitfield’s daughter. Our charity supports residents in the BS26 area, so if you wish us to take a group of you on a leisure or social outing, please contact us on 07881 630629 (Phil Davies) or email [email protected] Please let us have your ideas on how we can best make use of this wonderful facility for the community – thanks!
Thanks to generous donations from National Grid and the National Lottery "Awards for All" scheme, we have just purchased a minibus which will be ready in the near future to ferry elderly and disabled residents (and those without transport) to and from the café, and to take them to various social, medical and recreational venues. This is great news and shows how much our project is supported. Thank you.
